Please read carefully our data protection policy below and make sure you understand it. We are a UK company and our policy complies with UK law (GDPR, revised May 2018). Do feel free to contact us as at the above address if anything is not clear.
1. We are a very small business dealing almost exclusively with individual clients as opposed to companies. The only data of yours that we collect and store are your name and email address, as provided by you when making an enquiry about our services, subscribing via the website, requesting a quote or commissioning work from us. If you do not wish us to store this information, please let us know at any time by email or letter (see the contact details above).

3. This data is kept solely for the purpose of contacting you by email from time to time to send you information about useful publications, helpful hints and so on. This comes under the legal category of ‘Legitimate Interests’ and you may contact us at any time to tell us you do not wish to receive further emails from us. We will not use your email address for direct marketing purposes. We will never share your details with any other individual or organisation, for any purpose whatsoever. Neither will we ever obtain and store information about you from any other source, paid or unpaid.
4. Your name and email address will be kept in electronic form by us for an indefinite period, unless you request that we remove it, by contacting us at the email or postal address above. (This does not apply to manuscripts sent to us by you for editing etc – please see (9) below for our policy on these.)
5. Your details are stored in electronic form in a secure file system accessible only by Dr Sheila Glasbey and her employees. No printed records are kept. Your email details as supplied by you by means of a form enquiry to our website may be held in a secure system owned by our website provider, Wix.com. Please consult their data protection policy for details. We will not use or pass on any information gained from contact with you on our Facebook page without your express permission. 6. You may contact us at any time to ask to see any data that we hold about you, and we will supply this as quickly as is reasonably possible. Similarly, if you ask us in writing or by email, we will remove any such information from our records as soon as we possibly can.
7. In the very unlikely event of a breach of data privacy, please be assured that we would let you know as soon as is practically possible, sending you advice on what you should do and an explanation of what we are doing to resolve the problem, with ongoing updates of our progress.

Because of the nature of the work we do (editing, proofreading, critiques and so on) it is necessary that for a limited period we will store intellectual property comprising written work of yours in the form of manuscripts or extracts in electronic or paper form. We will make every reasonable effort to keep such work safe, by password protection of the file system, by locking filing cabinets and so on. We will carefully dispose of any printed matter and electronic files, both your originals and our edited versions, after our dealings with you as a client for this particular piece of work are complete. Our usual policy is to hold your work on file for approximately six months, in case you have further questions about the advice and editing we have provided. If you wish us to delete your work sooner than this, please let us know by email or by writing to us at the company address (see contact details above).
10. We will regularly review our above data protection policy and inform you of any updates.
